लोकसभा में सबने गाया गाना….. ‘हैप्पी बर्थडे टू यू’

बुधवार को संसद के बजट सत्र के दूसरे चरण का अंतिम दिन था। लेकिन इसी दिन लोकसभा स्पीकर सुमित्रा महाजन का जन्मदिन भी था । ऐसे में सत्तापक्ष और विपक्ष के बीच जारी तल्खी के बीच जैसे ही सुमित्रा महाजन अपने आसन पर पहुंची , लोकसभा सदस्यों ने बधाई गीत गाकर उन्हें शुभकामनाएं दीं । सदन की कार्यवाही शुरू होते ही सत्ता पक्ष और विपक्ष के कई सदस्य महाजन के लिए ‘हैप्पी बर्थडे टू यू’ गाते सुने गए ।

संसदीय कार्य मंत्री अनंत कुमार ने सदन की ओर से अध्यक्ष को शुभकामनाएं देते हुए कहा, “हम आपके स्वस्थ और लंबे जीवन की कामना करते हैं.”

महाजन को प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी और केंद्रीय मंत्रि परिषद के अन्य सदस्यों ने भी शुभकामनाएं दीं । प्रधानमंत्री  नरेन्द्र मोदी ने ट्वीट किया, “लोकसभा अध्यक्ष सुमित्रा महाजन जी को जन्मदिन की शुभकामनाएं । उनके लंबे और स्वस्थ जीवन की कामना करते हैं.”

महाराष्ट्र के रत्नागिरी में स्थित चिपलुण में 1943 में जन्मी महाजन 2014 में आठवीं बार लोकसभा के लिए चुनी गईं । वह फिलहाल सबसे लंबे समय से सेवारत महिला सदस्य हैं । वह अकेली ऐसी महिला सांसद हैं, जो एक ही सीट (मध्यप्रदेश के इंदौर) से लगातार आठ बार निर्वाचित हुई हैं । उन्हे भारतीय जनता पार्टी के सत्ता में आने के बाद छह जून, 2014 को लोकसभा अध्यक्ष के सम्मानित पद के लिए चुना गया था ।

As the Presiding Officer of directly elected House of the People, the Lok Sabha, Speaker is one of the highest constitutional functionaries in India’s Parliamentary system. One of the senior most Members of Indian Parliament, she holds the unique distinction of being the only woman MP to get elected eight consecutive times from the same Constituency (Indore) located in the Central Indian State of Madhya Pradesh. Her impressive victory margins bear a testimony to her immense popularity and also a reflection on her success in meeting the aspirations of the public.

As a parliamentarian, she has contributed immensely and enriched the parliamentary debates with her eloquence and effective speeches. She has always championed the cause of women by effectively articulating their issues.
